Dr. Gus Alva is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (DFAPA) and is boarded by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Geriatrics. Dr. Alva is the founder and medical director of ATP Clinical Research, a premier private clinical research company focused on new treatments for a variety of neuropsychiatric conditions. Current studies involve the use of novel compounds for Alzheimer’s disease, Mild Cognitive Impairment, Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia. Dr. Alva has been involved with the development of numerous medications for the aforementioned conditions, including extensive work in genetics, neuroimaging and cultural diversity associated with them.
Dr. Alva is a medical educator that is active on an international and national scale, educating peers and colleagues as well as the community at large in topics dealing with neuropsychiatry. Dr. Alva is a regular presenter at most of the major neuropsychiatric gatherings nationally and internationally. Dr. Alva is an accomplished neuro-psychiatrist and is a forensic consultant to the Orange County Superior Court as well as multiple legal firms.
